These three DIY skin moisturizers and hair conditioners are simple to follow, and easy to make a home.
Beeswax and Coconut Hand Lotion
This recipe takes about 10-15 minutes and makes one small jar of hand lotion.
Ingredients:
- ¾ oz of beeswax
- 1 ½ oz of coconut oil
- ¼ oz of shea butter
- 3 oz of sweet almond oil
- ½ teaspoon of vitamin E oil
- ½ tsp of essential oil, such as rose, lemon, or lavender
Instructions:
- Slowly melt the beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter in a double boiler, stirring occasionally.
- When the beeswax is completely melted, add in the sweet almond oil, stir, allow to warm for a minute or two, and then turn off heat and pour mixture into a bowl.
- Add vitamin E oil and essential oil, stir and the pour into a sealable jar.
- Allow to cool for at least an hour.
- Beeswax lotion is ready to use!
Beeswax and Aloe Vera Body Lotion
This recipe takes about 25-30 minutes and makes two 8 oz jars of body lotion.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup of grated beeswax
- 1 cup of sweet almond oil
- 1 tsp of vitamin E oil
- 12 drops of essential oil, such as lavender, orange, or sweet basil
- 1 cup of aloe vera
Instructions:
- Melt the beeswax in a double boiler.
- When completely melted, pour into a blender, and mix in the sweet almond oil, vitamin E oil.
- Allow to cool for at least 5 minutes, then turn blender on at low speed.
- Slowly add aloe vera gel.
- Mix for 10 minutes, stopping occasionally to clean mixture off sides of blender with a spatula.
- Scoop lotion out of blender into clean jars for storage.
- Refrigerate.
Honey & Avocado Hair Conditioner
This recipe takes about 5-7 minutes and makes one jar of hair conditioner.
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 tbs of olive oil
- 1 tbs of honey
- 3 drops of lavender oil
Instructions:
- Halve and pit the avocado; remove from skin and slice.
- Place sliced avocado, olive oil, honey, and lavender oil into a food processor.
- Mix until completely smooth—about 30 seconds.
- Use a spatula to scoop the conditioner into a jar.
- Seal and refrigerate until ready to use.
