The Best Bees Company sells and maintains beehives for residential and commercial clients all over New England. We manage about 1,000 bee hives from our shop facility in Boston, where the South End and Roxbury meet. Our company continues to grow rapidly, and we seek enthusiastic individuals to join us as the next generation of beekeepers. No previous beekeeping experience is required, but a passion for pollinators is necessary!  Applicants must be comfortable working around bees with no known bee allergies. As an employee, you will learn all aspects of beekeeping, from the building of beehives to evaluating a colony’s health, to harvesting honey.  We are actively collecting data all year long for our on-going research projects and the employee will gain experience with field research.  We often participate in educational events and employees may be asked to help set up and staff these events. In some instances we offer unpaid internship opportunities to college students who are required or permitted to complete an internship in exchange for academic credit. Our jobs and internships are based in Boston but we accept applicants nationwide. Although we accept applications year round, we require the most staffing from spring through fall, and are able to accommodate more staff during these months. There are a variety of different tasks that staff will have the opportunity to complete, including: learning beekeeping material, field beekeeping, honey harvesting, wax processing, operating company vehicles, loading and unloading vehicles, hive and frame fabrication, honeybee health research, and in some cases, custom beehive design. As our needs vary by season, so too do the tasks that staff are expected to perform. It is important to note that this is a demanding, messy, hands on job, sometimes requiring long hours and extensive driving.  We require applicants to be able to lift over 40lbs. A driver’s license is required and previous experience driving large vehicles is preferred.
If you are interested in applying for a job or internship with The Best Bees Company, please contact us using the form below, including a resume and cover letter. If you have any further questions, please include them in the body of your message. As we receive many applications, our process is quite selective, and it may take us some time to get back to you.
