Full-Time Harvester: Boston

The Best Bees Company is seeking a full-time harvester in Boston!

We are a full-service beekeeping operation headquartered in Boston. We deliver, install, and manage beehives for residences and businesses in 13 cities nationwide, including the Boston metro area. The data we collect via our hive visits supports honey bee health research at our sister non-profit The Urban Beekeeping Laboratory and Bee Sanctuary.

Our Harvester would work full time from our Boston office, Monday through Friday. There is potential for flexibility in the days or hours that you might be working. Ideally, candidates will be available for at least 32 hours per week. We offer an hourly rate of $16/hr and are seeking a Harvester to start by April 1.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Enthusiasm for pollinators and beekeeping, with comfort working around bees

  • Consistent weekday availability

  • Organized & efficient

  • Comfortable working independently, with support from in-person or remote managers
  • Ability to communicate clearly, consistently, and promptly through phone and Google applications (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Drive, etc)
  • Consistent weekday availability

  • Willingness to take on additional, often last-minute tasks, including working weekends when necessary
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
Responsibilities will include
  • Being able to manage time well to maintain an organized flow of work, juggling multiple tasks within one day
  • Completing small-batch client harvesting tasks including uncapping, extracting, filtering, jarring, and labeling honey

  • Fulfilling bulk & supplemental honey orders
  • Recording detailed and accurate harvesting records through our proprietary application
  • Communication with beekeepers and managers via Slack and email
  • Maintaining a clean working environment, including regular cleaning and minor maintenance of Best Bees Harvesting equipment, tools, and workspace

  • Supporting inventory of jars, lids, labels, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with Best Bees clientele and teammates
  • Opportunities to shadow beekeepers in the field
